The Blue Angels

US Navy flight demonstration team The Blue Angels formed at the end of World War II to keep the public interested in Naval Aviation. The Blue Angels performed their first flight in June 1946 flying the Grumman F6F Hellcat at their home base, Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, Florida.

In 1986 The Blue Angels completed their 40th anniversary years when they unveiled their present aircraft, The McDonnel Douglas F/A-18 Hornet, the first dual-role fighter/attack aircraft replacing their A-4F Skyhawk II.
